The IGNIS consortium has obtained funding for the implementation of the ICRA project.

The IGNISConsortium , which includes, the Main Fire Brigade School,  Home, Faculty of Mathematics, Information Technology and Mechanics at Warsaw University, The Scientific Research Centre of Fire Protection the Joseph Tuliszkowskiego National Research Institute and Dituel SP. z o.o. received a favourable opinion on the financing and implementation of the ICRA project. The project is funded  in its entirety by the National Research and Development Center.
The aim of the project is to improve the safety of fire fighters in the course oftheir fire fighting duties and the optimization of the effectiveness of their work.

The essence of the project is to design and build a modern, innovative risk management system and the optimization of the proposed scenarios to support the person in charge during rescue and fire fighting interventions in buildings.

The diversity and dynamics of the phenomena during such operations require the fire fighter in charge to be able to take quick and accurateddecisions in order to optimize the decision-making process.  The sheer volume of information, time pressures and other factors such as risk and pressure militate against an effective decision-making process. Modern methods of collating expert data and the algorithms involved in processing it, involving man and machine may contribute to the effectiveness of the process, minimizing the risk and boosting the quality of such operations.

The search for these solutions requires a broad and detailed knowledge in the domain of fire-fighting, but also devising complex algorythms in dynamic risk management. In order to accomplish this, an interdisciplinary team, in a unique way, combines experts in textual domain-specific fire-fighting (SGSP, CNBOP), leading scientists in the field of artificial intelligence (MIMUW) and experienced programmers (Dituel).

The basis of these experiences and areas of expertise, an innovative computer system will be designed and tested, with the aim of aiding fire fighters in the course of fire fighting and rescue operations in buildings, increasing their effectiveness and improving safety. This System is toevaluate, in real time , the risk factors, as well as  assist the person in charge of the operations, by generating optimal scenarios.

The basis of the scenarios will be specialist knowledge domain, represented in the ontology, supported by mathematical models obtained from numerically expressed data and computer simulations. These models will be adapted to the current state of the given operation, on the basis of information obtained from the fire fighters or that concerning the building infrastructure and other factors.
